RRR NETWORK - Reference Group Nominations

2011-10-19

The Rural Remote and Regional (RRR) Women’s Network of Western Australia is inviting non-metropolitan women to nominate for positions on its Reference Group.

RRR Network executive officer Katrina Hayes said that the RRR Network brings together women from rural, remote and regional Western Australia to recognise, promote and expand the contribution they make to their communities.

“We are looking for women of all ages who have interests and good network contacts in the areas of health, education, small business, agribusiness, local government, indigenous affairs, multicultural affairs and across all regions,” Ms Hayes said.

“Ideally, we would like women with an awareness and interest in issues impacting on rural women and their families to nominate.”

Expressions of interest are being called for the positions as Members of the Reference Group for 2012 - 2015.

Reference group members will be appointed by the Minister for Agriculture and Food and the Minister for Regional Development, for a three year term from 1 January 2012.

Ms Hayes said the reference group meets twice a year in Perth to review activities and to develop future strategies for the RRR Network. Additional web-based meetings are also held during the year.

”The group comprises of women from diverse backgrounds, skills and geographical areas and industry sectors. The diversity is vital to ensure the RRR Network is in touch with developments across WA regional communities,” she said.

“As part of the reference group, women have an excellent opportunity to meet with an extended network of people from around the State, contribute to the RRR Network magazine, promote regional initiatives and events, highlight current issues in their communities, help expand the RRR communication network and provide strategic direction.”

Nomination forms are available from the RRR website at
www.rrr.wa.gov.au and will be open until Monday 31 October 2012.
