PGA WELCOMES RETURN OF ABC LOCAL RADIO TO THE BUSH

2012-11-27

The Pastoralists and Graziers Association has welcomed the news that ABC local radio services have been restored to rural and remote parts of Western Australia, following the replacement of the Aurora satellite system by the Viewer Access Satellite Television (VAST) platform last year.

“This is tremendous news as many remote pastoralists were without any radio reception coming into the bushfire and cyclone seasons,” PGA Pastoral Executive Officer Ian Randles said.

“The PGA had been actively involved in lobbying the Government and the ABC for the return of local radio under VAST, and is appreciative of the efforts made by the Communications Minister to ensure the upgrades were a priority.”

“Access to services local radio is important, whether you live in Perth, or in the Kimberley.”
