Live Export Update - Support Our Industry & Attend the Protest at Parliament House THIS Saturday 18 June

2011-06-17

As you are all aware the PGA has been actively involved in negotiations to restart the live export of cattle to Indonesia.

Initiated by the Kimberley Division of the Pastoralists & Graziers Association, a meeting was held yesterday in Broome.  This industry wide forum included shared participation and input from pastoral families, pastoral industry employees, Aboriginal pastoral groups, pastoral companies, peak industry bodies, PGA, ILC, livestock agents, exporters, road train operators, contractors, helicopter companies, politicians, town businesses, shires, government agencies and media personnel.

This is about the LIFE OR DEATH of the livestock export industry in Australia.

OUR LIVELIHOOD!

Similar forums will be held in coming weeks in Geraldton (24 June) and Katanning (1 July) to keep the pressure on Government.

Animal activists are staging a ‘National Day of Action to End Live Animal Exports’ tomorrow.  Rallies have been organised throughout Australia, including two rallies in WA in Perth (Parliament House) and Fremantle (Council House) between 12pm and 2pm. These rallies are expected to attract very large crowds and probably a lot of media coverage. These rallies in Western Australia are being coordinated by Lisa Baker, MLA for Maylands.

The WA Farmers Federation is planning a protest against these rallies to show support for the live export trade at Parliament House this Saturday.

Below are details on the protest for your information:
